Studies have shown that of all our senses, scent is the most powerful memory trigger. We want to create the scents that conjure favourite memories of wonderful places and shared moments. Each candle is hand poured in London. Even our outer packaging is manufauted in London. Our outer packaging is responsibly produced and certified by World Land Trust. Our boxes are printed with vegetable-based ink and covered with water-based coatings. Everything is manufactured in the UK thus reducing our carbon footprint and keeping people in the UK employed.

Care Instructions
In order to get the most enjoyment from your M&J Candle, you must give appropriate regard to how they are stored and burned. Following these instructions will help you prolong the life of this candle, ensuring a slow and even burn.
Before you light an M&J Candle, it is important that you take a moment to read our warning label instructions on the base of each candle.
Never leave a burning candle unattended and keep burning candles out of the reach of children and pets.
Never burn your candle on or near anything flammable (curtains, fabric covered furniture, flammable liquids, etc.)
Place your candle on an adequately sized, heat and stain resistant dish or holder.
Place your candle on a level surface. If your candle is not on a level surface, it will burn unevenly, reducing the overall burn time.
Place your candle in a draft free location. If your candle is not in a draft free location, the flame can be dangerous, but it will also cause an improper burn which can lead to deposits forming on the wick which can make the wick unstable and/or reduce the overall burn time.
Before you light your candle each time, trim the wick to 1/4 inch (0.6 cm), removing any soot balls that may have formed on the tip of the wick.
Never drop matches or other foreign objects into candles. We recommend using butane lighters to light your candles instead of matches. Matches tend to cause soot and particles can fall into the wax. Always light your candle in an upright postion.
When burning a new M&J candle, ensure that you can commit to 3-4 hours burn time. This will ensure that the entire surface area of the candle melts evenly and give you maximum fragrance throw. Stopping the candle before this time could create tunneling (where the candle burns through the center, rather than burn out the edge of the glass container) when relit. Subsequent uses of this candle should not exceed 4-6 hours burn time.
Never move or re-light a candle until the flame is out and wax is completely solid. If the wick becomes too long while burning, extinguish flame before trimming.
The glass containers do become hot when burning. Only handle the candles after they have cooled down.
If the flame is irregular or it takes longer than 3 to 4 hours, extinguish the flame. After the first burn, you will need to let the softened wax harden again before relighting.
Always use caution when burning a candle. If the flame appears unsteady, extinguish the candle, trim the wick and relight. If it continues to appear to be unsteady, you may have a draft (air vents, open doors, windows, ceiling fans, etc.) If you notice the flame flickering there is a draft and the candle needs to be relocated in a different area. Extinguish and relocate the candle in a draft free location.
Always exercise caution when burning candles, and remember to play safe with fire.
